Abstract
Describes the books listed in the Children's Choices for 1997, a project of the International Reading Association and the Children's Book Council designed to encourage reading from children. Background of the project; Modes of selection and annotation of books; Reading levels by which the books were categorized; Listings of recommended books according to the type of readers. INSETS: Tips for parents, primary caregivers, and educators.
