Dr. Shawn Simonson, Assistant Professor and Director of the Human Performance
Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology at Boise State University, holds a doctorate
in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He also
holds current certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and as a
Health Fitness Specialist (ASCM). 

Dr. Simonson has published and presented widely in the areas of environmental physiology,
exercise physiology, biomechanics, pathophysiology, disease management, and exercise
leadership. His current research interests include arthritis, bodybuilding, conditioning,
elder fitness, and disease management. He serves as a reviewer for Women in Sport and
Physical Activity Journal, the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, and as a
textbook reviewer for Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins.
