<title>The Effect of Race on Retention Rates of Elementary Education Students at Liberty University</title>

<description>&lt;p&gt;The purpose of this study was to determine if race is a factor in determining the retention rates of elementary Education students at Liberty University. The data for this study was retrieved from the Teacher Licensure Office at Liberty University. Fifty students were randomly selected from and a descriptive research methodology was used. The data analysis was obtained from a cross tabulation of the key variables for this study: race/ethnicity, gender, grades, and completion in the Teacher Licensure Program. A chi-square test was used in the analysis, and based on the results of this test there was a positive relationship between a student&rsquo;s race, completion rates in the Introductory Elementary Education courses, and continuation in the Teacher Licensure Program.&lt;/p&gt;

As we continue to advance through the millennium, institutions of higher education are making changes in their programs of study in order to have a more diversified learning environment.  This paper discusses diversity in higher education and how the university community can work together to make the institution a more welcoming environment for everyone.&lt;/p&gt;

The Regional Meeting was held to discuss the ways in which the Regional Kappa Delta Pi Organizations could work together to help assist one another in the common goal of carrying out the ideals of the educational honor society, and the importance of the following issues: recruitment of new members to the organization, retaining members, fundraising, service projects, and exciting new ways to get more education majors interested in Kappa Delta Pi.&lt;/p&gt;
