Abstract
Being Dakota is the publication of parts of a manuscript from the Alanson Skinner Manuscript Collection in the Braun Research Library at the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles. The manuscript had been prepared for eventual publication by Skinner, in collaboration with Oneroad. It was, however, never published, as Skinner died in a 1925 car accident while doing fieldwork with Oneroad on the Spirit Lake Reservation in North Dakota
