Dr. Sara M. Ahten joined the faculty of the School of Nursing at Boise State University in 2002. She entered nursing as a second career, after working in the business side of healthcare, and now has an Associates Degree in Nursing from Illinois Central College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois, a Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Rush University in Chicago. Her work at Boise State includes instruction in didactic and clinical courses in the baccalaureate nursing curriculum, chairing the undergraduate curriculum team, and course development in the Post-Master’s Doctorate in Nursing Practice program. Dr. Ahten's graduate work included her master's professional paper titled "Case Studies in the Classroom Setting: Do They Encourage Deep Learning in Undergraduate Nursing Students?" and her doctoral professional paper titled "STEP Into a Medical Home: A Staff Transition Education Program for Clinics Transitioning into a Medical Home."
