Sam is excited to have joined the faculty in the Department of Food Science at
UMASS, Amherst in September 2009. He was previously a post-doctoral associate in the
Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY. After earning B.S. degrees in Animal Science and Food Science from University of
Vermont, Sam completed an M.S. in Food Engineering under the guidance of Prof. Steve
Mulvaney. From 1999 to 2003, Sam worked as a Research Engineer at Kraft Foods in
Tarrytown, NY. In 2003, Sam returned to Cornell to complete his PhD working in Prof.
Antje Baeumner's Biosensors & Bioanalytical Microsystems Lab.
