Associate Professor Teaching and Learning Services Teachers Certificate (Sydney Teacher’s College) BA (University of New England) PhD (Charles Sturt University) Rozz Albon‘s career in education is characterised by diversity. Beginning with primary school teaching which included specialist work in reading, art and curriculum design, she became involved in literacy initiating the first programs at a regional TAFE College and others at the Community College. Teaching and designing curriculum for developmentally disabled adults, second chance education, Year 10 international students and immigrant adults learning English constituted much of her work. Later she was Director of a small Reading Centre attached to Charles Sturt University and Teacher Education. She joined the higher education sector as academic staff at Charles Sturt University teaching in Educational Psychology and Gifted Education and later teaching the same at Curtin University of Technology. While at Curtin University she was Director of Teaching and Learning at Curtin’s offshore campus in Sarawak. She is currently the coordinator of ALTC’s Promoting Excellence Initiative at Bond University. Her research interests continue to focus on factors affecting and enhancing learning by university students across disciplines and cultures, and mentoring, rich assessment, learning in teams about team skills, and technology constitute the breadth of her research. She is a regular reviewer for Australian Journal Educational Technology and Australian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education, author and the recipient of numerous fellowships, grants and teaching awards. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS Rozz’s PhD in the identification of young gifted children fore grounded intelligence and comprehension theory. The cognitive processing of information transferred well into developing and researching various learning designs and assessment in higher education. Her work explores and integrates socio-cultural, situative, motivational and cognitive learning theory into learning in institutions with the support of technology. The research contributes to and builds upon effective learning strategies in higher education. Her most recent publications have focused on teams, gifted university students and international students.
