"Never neutral": on Labour history / radical history

Rowan Cahill, University of Wollongong

Abstract

In this essay the author makes a case for the research and writing of radical history. In the process he criticises the evolution of labour history in Australia away from its activist and radical roots in the 1960s. The title of the essay comes from Australian labour historian Eric Fry who stated (1983) that "History is never neutral."
