Professor Rocque Reynolds BA(Sydney), LLM(Sydney), PhD(Sydney) 

Professor Rocque Reynolds is Dean of Law and Head of School of the Southern Cross
University School of Law and Justice. Rocque is a leading authority on administrative
law, intellectual property and regulatory theory and her text books in these fields are
used throughout Australia. Rocque specialises in regulatory design for food, food
security, and agriculture; and intellectual property law with particular reference to
plant breeders’ rights, geographical indicators, traditional knowledge, and the
International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. As a lawyer in
a large legal firm and independent legal consultant Rocque has advised Australian and
international firms and industry bodies on many aspects of food and agricultural
regulation to produce focused, industry relevant research. She has been the Chief
Investigator on one ARC and two RIRDC research projects. 

Research Interests Professor Rocque Reynolds is an experienced researcher on the
relationship between social policy and law with a particular focus on the role of
regulatory authorities in food and agriculture. She has conducted large scale qualitative
and quantitative research into the social and legal impact of contract growing in
Australian agriculture. Rocque is particularly interested in the regulatory challenges of
the decentred state and she has supervised post graduate research into a number of
regulatory authorities including the NSW Food Authority, the GM Regulator and the
Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.
