Rob Frieden serves as Pioneers Chair and Professor of Telecommunications and Law at Penn State University. Professor Frieden has written several books, published over sixty articles in academic journals and provided commentary in a variety of print, broadcast and Internet media. The Social Science Research Network ranks Professor Frieden in the top two percent for manuscript downloads in law and in all disciplines. Before accepting an academic appointment, Professor Frieden held senior government policy making positions, practiced law and worked for two startup telecommunications ventures. Professor Frieden holds a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Pennsylvania (1977) and a J.D. from the University of Virginia (1980).
