Small intestinal incarceration through an omental rent in a horse
Abstract
Intestinal incarceration in an omental rent is a rare abdominal disorder in horses. A case of a horse with small intestinal incarceration in an omental rent is described here. The report includes description of the clinical presentation, surgical and post mortem findings and discusses the features unique to this case. The clinical presentation is similar to other small intestinal strangulation lesions; however, the location of the lesion is unusual and the anatomical relation to the gastrosplenic ligament interesting.
