Dr. Schellenberg served as a professional school counselor at both the elementary and secondary levels in the Virginia public school system for over a decade. Dr. Rita Schellenberg received her M.Ed. in Counselor Education and training in School Counseling at the College of William and Mary. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Dr. Schellenberg has been recognized at the local, state, and national level for her contributions in education and counseling. In 2010, she was named one of the top 15 school counselors in the nation by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). Dr. Schellenberg is a member and board member of multiple professional counseling and school counseling associations. She presents regularly at state, regional, and national conferences sharing her research, software, and vision for school counseling, which is also available at www.thenewschoolcounselor.com. In addition to school counseling licensure, Dr. Schellenberg is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), and holds national certifications as a Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), National Certified School Counselor (NCSC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS).
