I am an Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and former Adjunct Professor of Physiology and Pharmacology of The University of Western Ontario. My post retirement research has focused on the presence of pollutants in the waters of the Florida panhandle and on the effects of one of these, cadmium, on the function of a particular marine sponge. In addition I have surveyed the scientific literature for evidence of adverse effects of herbal remedies and of their interactions with conventional medications. I also write on environmental health issues, having taught environmental toxicology for 15 years. I have served for three years on the regional sourcewater protection committee charged with protecting sources of municipal drinking water from biological and chemical contamination.
