About Richard L. Pate

Richard Pate, Esq. is Associate Professor of Management at Sacred Heart University. He has taught law related classes at Sacred Heart University for over 20 years. Mr. Pate is licensed to practice law in Connecticut, the United States District Court of Connecticut, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, United States Supreme Court. The matters he handles, as a practicing attorney, are directly correlated to the subjects he teaches at the University, offering students a “real life” look at legal issues; his focus is on human resource law. Selected litigation includes the following:
Hart v. Family Dental Group, 645 F.3d 561(2nd Cir. 2011) cert. denied 132 S.Ct.763 (2011).  Represented employee in action based on discrimination due to military status.
Marinella v. Town of Darien, 2010 WL 3123298 (D.Conn. 2010). Represented widow of former employee of town in action based on violation of procedural due process under the U.S. Constitution in connection with widow survivor benefits.
Parker v. Ginsburg Development CT, LLC, 85 Conn. App. 777 (2004).  Represented employee in action based on language rebutting employee at will status.
Vogel v. American Kiosk Management, 371 F. Supp. 2d 122 (2005).  Represented employee in action based on discrimination due to sexual orientation and overtime manager misclassification under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
