Abstract

Introduction:
With the increasing emphasis on primary care as a venue for medical education, medical education quality assurance agencies are increasingly interested during accreditation processes in visiting primary care practices that host learners. An example is the process for Quality Assurance of Basic Medical Education (QABME). Practices may feel that they are at the periphery of these processes, but the growing education professionalism of teaching practices requires them to engage in quality assurance to both improve their education service delivery and contribute to an understanding of how quality can be assured in primary care. This paper describes the role of practices in quality assurance processes and encourages active engagement.
