Abstract
The United Nations Global Compact is the largest corporate citizenship initiative in the world. Labor rights are integral to this initiative and accordingly, of the ten UNGC principles, four endeavor to lay down minimum universal labor standards. Participating corporations commit to enact and implement these principles within their sphere of influence. This presentatoin uses a comparative approach to explore issues that participating corporations may face in meeting their commitments, given perspectives on labor standards in the United States, European and Islamic law countries.
