Rachel Filinson has been Gerontology Coordinator and a Professor of Sociology at Rhode Island College since 1987. She teaches a wide variety of courses(in both traditional and online formats) including core sociology courses on theory and methods, a service learning course, and gerontology courses on the social aspects of aging, programs and policy affecting older adults, and contemporary debates and challenges regarding an aging population. Her areas of specialty include comparative gerontological policy analysis and geriatric education evaluation. She is currently completing a study on aged inmates.
