Assistant Professor M.B.B.S. Phillip Fourie graduated as a qualified Medical Doctor in South Africa in 1993. He completed his internship at Tygerberg Academic Hospital in Cape Town where he completed placements in general medicine, medical casualties, psychiatry, anesthetics and obstetrics and gynecology. After spending the next three years in Scotland and England he returned to South Africa to open a general practice. However due to unstable political conditions he decided to emigrate to Australia, arriving in 2000. Initially he worked as a general practioner with an emphasis in Psychiatry. In 2001 he started his Doctorate of Counselling at Bond University, while working as a medical office in Psychiatry for Adult Mental Health Services on the Gold Coast. Currently he is a lecturer at Bond teaching behaviour management, counselling and biomedical sciences.
