About Peter Hovey

"I have spent most of my career as an applied statistician working on problems related to structural integrity of aircraft in the Research Institute. A big part of my work on these projects was "instructing" the engineers on the projects on the meaning of the statistical analyses I performed. I try to use my experience in applications to help my current students understand how statistics can help them in their careers."
Dr Hovey received a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Dayton in 1975 and returned to UD after finishing his Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics at the University of Kentucky in 1980 in a position in the Research Institute. He returned to the Math department in the fall of 2001 as an Assistant Professor in a tenure track position.
