Prof Eklund graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons) in 1985. Prof Eklund studied in the UK as a research Masters student at University of Brighton (1986-1988) and earned his PhD from Linköping University in Sweden, 1991.
