Prof Eklund graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of
Mathematics (Hons) in 1985. Prof Eklund studied in the UK as a research Masters student
at University of Brighton (1986-1988) and earned his PhD from Linköping University in
Sweden, 1991. Prof Eklund was a postdoctoral Visiting Research Fellow at Hosei
University, Japan before establishing an academic career in Australia where he has held
chairs in Computer Science at the University of Queensland, Information Technology at
Griffith University along with roles at The University of Adelaide and overseas again as
Visiting Professor at INRIA, Sophia Antipolis, France Returning to his alma mater in
2003, Professor Eklund has worked in several leadership roles and is now the Director,
Centre for Digital Ecosystems 

Field of Study: Applied Lattice Theory, Digital Resource Management, Semantic Web:
including application of Formal Concept Analysis to knowledge and information
organisation problems, most recently in digital libraries used in cultural heritage and
the GLAM sector
