Admitted to the bars in New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and
Eastern Districts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Professor Rooney
was the valedictorian of the full-time division of her law school class and research
editor of the Touro Law Review. While in law school, Professor Rooney served as an intern
for the Honorable Frank X. Altimari, United States Court of Appeals Second Circuit and
the Honorable Denis R. Hurley, United States District Court for the Eastern District of
New York. From 1999 through 2003, she was associated with the firms of Cahn Wishod &
Knauer, LLP; Ruskin, Moscou, Evans & Faltischek, P.C.; and Scarcella Rosen &
Slome LLP. Prior to joining the faculty at Touro, she was with the firm of Sinnreich
Kosakoff & Messina LLP in Central Islip, where she practiced in the areas of complex
commercial litigation, appellate practice, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, construction
law, and trusts and estates litigation. Before attending law school, Professor Rooney was
a concert pianist and music teacher. Professor Rooney is listed in the International
Who's Who in Music and is a Faculty Member of the American College of Musicians.
