Dr. Nicole Molumby joined the faculty of the Department of Music at Boise State University in 2005. In addition to teaching flute and ear training, she actively performs throughout Europe and the United States. She has both a BM and BME from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Master of Music from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, where she studied with former London Symphony Orchestra principal flutist, Peter Lloyd. She then taught elementary general music in the Columbus (OH) Public Schools, and graduated with her D.M.A in flute performance from The Ohio State University as a student of Katherine Borst Jones. As a teacher, Dr. Molumby has explored diverse teaching methods from ancient techniques to modern technology. She was featured in a television news story about her use of iPad apps to teach performance and ear training, and iRest, a research-based relaxation method that helps students deal with performance anxiety. As a performing artist, her creative activities currently are focused on recording flute music by two emerging 21st century Slovenian composers, Blaž Pucihar and Črt Sojar Volgar.
