Abstract

To address the controversial hypothesis that multiple sclerosis is infectious, detailed analysis is performed on a data set from the Faroe Islands using the backcalculation technique developed in the study of HIV incidence. The method reconstructs an incidence intensity function. The influence of covariates and dependence among diagnosis times are also considered.
