Neophytos Loizides received his PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto in May 2005. He is currently a Lecturer in International Politics and Ethnic Conflict at Queen's University, Belfast and an Associate Editor for Nationalism and Ethnic Politics. He has previously been a research fellow at the Belfer Center at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and he has taught at the Politics Department at Princeton University. He studies negotiations and conflict resolution in deeply divided societies and he has recently completed a British Academy funded project titled ‘Doves against hawks: Nationalism and the Choice of Peace'. His recent publications include articles published or forthcoming in Cooperation and Conflict, Journal of Peace Research, Human Rights Quarterly, International Studies Perspectives, Nationalities Papers, Nations and Nationalism, Middle Eastern Studies and Parliamentary Affairs. His interests focus specifically on refugee and settler rights,federal and consociational systems, transitional justice and referendums in peace processes. His work on the human rights of refugees and missing persons has been cited by international media including the Economist.
