CO Emission, Population and Industrial Growth Linkages 2 in Selected South Asian Countries: A Co-Integration Analysis

This study investigates the impact of population & industrial growth on one of the important environmental problems i.e. CO emissions in selected SAARC countries. This study covers the time period from 2 1980 to 2008. Four major SAARC countries were selected on the bases of their population size. Study applied panel co-integration methodology to find long rum relationship among the variables. Fisher Johansen to co-integration methodology found co-integrating vectors and Pedroni panel co-integration also found co-integration in the variables of study. Results of the study show that industrialization and population both were major causes of air pollution (CO emission) in these SAARC countries.

Determinants of Export Demand of Textile and Clothing Sector of Pakistan: An Empirical Analysis

This paper attempts to evaluate the determinants of export demand of textile and clothing sector of Pakistan. Moreover it estimates elasticity coefficients of the variables of the study. This study uses cointegration approach to check the long run relationship between export demand and its determinants. Results show that world income is the major determinant of export demand as it shows high income elasticity of export demand of textile and clothing sector while trade openness is also second major determinant of export demand which was the part of the model as the proxy of trade restriction. Rest of the variables also shows their significant contribution in determining the export demand. Study also reveals the long run relationship between the export demand and explanatory variables

Impact of Intstitutional Credit on Agricultural Output

This paper looks at the role of credit to agricultural sector in Pakistan. It begins with an analysis of credit as indirect input to agricultural sector. It helps the farmers to buy modern and expensive inputs such as tractor, tubewel, seeds, fertilizers etc. the study covers the period from 1974 to 2008. The empirical findings show that there is a significant role of credit in agriculture sector.
