Abstract

A quantitative survey was conducted to investigate the functional status of men following becoming a father (not necessarily for the first time). By 6 weeks postpartum a majority of new fathers were maintaining the same level of activities, the increase in the level of household activities was slight. The usual working hours remained the same for most fathers, however, it was difficult to maintain educational activities including keeping up with studies and assignments. Sexual activities declined sharply and about half of the fathers were not engaging in sexual activity as often as before.
