The Remains of the Day,the brilliant novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, reminds us, physicians and health care organizations alike, that no matter what the setting or the institutional constraints, authentic professionalism in the broadest sense cannot abrogate its core duties: to make sound and ethical judgments and to acknowledge the responsibility for having made them.Suggested Citation
