About Michelle K. Bacchiocchi

Dr. Michelle K. Bacchiocchi has a background in biology and medical lab science, which includes teaching Introduction to Biology and Bacteriology courses at Lake Michigan College as an adjunct professor.
A Master of Arts in Teaching then opened up experiences in teaching elementary and middle school at Ruth Murdoch Elementary School. Administrative duties for the school and junior high were part of the responsibilities. Growing up in New York City afforded diverse cultural experiences and immersion in music, art, and literature.
Currently, Dr. Bacchiocchi teaches in the School of Education and is the Director of Student Teaching, where she places and supervises teacher candidates in the classroom for internships. Best classroom practices are modeled and incorporated in method classes, First Days of School Experience, and Student Seminar.
Dr. Bacchiocchi completed a dissertation in the field of Educational Psychology with focus on growth mindset and the definitions of intelligence of preservice teachers. Teacher training, effective classroom strategies, motivation, and neural retraining are other areas of study. Some personal interests and activities include free-range reading, skiing, scuba, being in nature, and spending quality time with her family.
