BSc (Hons)(Birmingham) AdDipMath(Oxon) PhD (Soton) FBCS CEng MACS Michael Rees studied at Oxford and obtained his PhD in Computer Science from University of Southampton. He has undertaken computer science teaching and research for 28 years. Professor Rees has been a seconded academic researcher to the Distributed Systems Technology Centre, a Collaborative Research Centre based at the University of Queensland. In the last decade he has specialized in human-computer interaction and the design of graphical user interfaces. His current areas of expertise include the enabling technologies for the Internet and the World-Wide Web including Web page design and construction, multi-tier Web application implementation and the Java programming language. He has specialized in Web applications in CSCW (Computer-Supported Cooperative Work) and groupware generally along with Web multi-tier application technologies, Teleteaching and CSCW and Human-computer interaction.
