Michael has taught as Teacher within the School of Justice Administration, Brisbane North Institute of TAFE and Queensland Commercial College (Private Invesitgation Course).Michael has also worked as a research assistant within the School of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Griffith University. Qualifications: Currently a Doctoral student within the Australian Graduate School of Policing, Faculty of Arts, Charles Sturt University. Professional Qualifications: Certificate IV in Investigative Services, Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training, Certificate IV in Government (Investigations), Certificate IV in Government (Fraud Control Investigations). Background Michael King has 15 years experience as an fraud and criminal investigator. This includes as a invesitgator for Treasury (Cth), with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). During this period of time Michael conducted some highly complex revenue investigations, as well as managing joint-investigations with other agencies including the Australian Customs Service, Centrelink, Australian Federal Police and various state Police Services. Prior to working within the Australian Public Service he held the positions as a Risk & Investigation Consultant with Suncorp (Injury Claims) and the Queensland State Public Sector with roles within the Office of Fair Trading and Department of Justice. Michael has also worked in private practice as a director of a private investigation and financial investigation firm. During this period of time Michael supervised and undertook work for many of Queensland's leading law firms and insurance companies. As well as providing services to State Government Departments such as the Legal Aid, Department of Housing, Crown Law and Building Services Authority. Michael has also consulted for several firms located in Hong Kong. Michael has been a guest speaker at a number of 'Investigations at Work Conferences' held by the Australian Security Academy to a number of Queensland State Government Agencies. Michael is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE), the Australian Institute of Professional Investigators (AIPI) as well as being the 2001-2002 Treasury of the QLD Chapter of the AIPI. Michael is also a member of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Criminology (ANZSOC) and the International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (IIIRG). His research and teaching interests include financial investigations, tax fraud, economic-crime, investigative interviewing, police corruption and misconduct, white-collar crime, and private policing and security.
