SYDNEY, N.S. — A Catholic academic who once made headlines for his public criticism of Pope Benedict XVI is the next guest speaker in the Father Greg MacLeod Lecture Series.

Michael Higgins, a well-known Canadian liberal Catholic leader and former president of Fredericton’s St. Thomas University, is scheduled to make three presentations of an address entitled the Shock, Genius and Relevance of Catholic Social Teaching.
