Welcome to the Selected Works site for Michael Donihue. Professor Donihue joined the
faculty at Colby College in 1989 and has established himself as an applied macroeconomist
specializing in econometric modeling for forecasting and policy analysis. In 1994 he was
invited to join President Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisers as the senior economist
responsible for macroeconomics and forecasting. As a member of the economics department
at Colby, Professor Donihue regularly taught a senior seminar the produced the Colby
Economic Outlook, a newsletter of short term forecasts for the US and Maine economies.
Professor Donihue's current research focuses on the estimation of consumer wealth
effects and the role of housing wealth in the retirement saving decision. More recently,
Professor Donihue has assumed the position of Associate Vice President for Academic
Affairs at Colby to help oversee a comprehensive review of the curriculum.
