About Michael J. Cuellar

Michael J. Cuellar was previously at North Carolina Central University for five years before coming to Georgia Southern University. At NCCU, he was the lead faculty for the CIS area. Prior to entering academia, he spent 25 years in industry working for such firms as EDS (now HP Enterprise Services), Computer Sciences Corporation, and Lockheed. In industry, he was a programmer, team leader, project/program manager and engagement manager. He has experience in outsourcing relationship sales and management. His industry experience includes stints with Medicare systems, NASA, GM, Maxtor, Maxoptics, AMD, Hitachi Data Systems and American Software.

Cuellar has taught many different IS courses including Excel, Access, fundamentals of programming, introduction to information systems, systems analysis and design, project management, outsourcing, and operations management. Some of his current projects include a study of how projects come to be viewed as successful, a cross cultural study of why project managers do not respond to reports of project issues and a model of how scholars build influence in the academic world. He is a member of Project Management International and the Association for Information Systems
