Copyright Issues and "For Profit" Libraries: Problems and Solutions
Abstract
This article discusses the challenges of using copyrighted materials in a for-profit environment. Included is a brief history of the relevant legal cases, an overview of the concept of fair use and its applications in a non-academic setting, plus a review of significant parts of the copyright law that pertain to for-profit libraries. Strategies are offered to avoid potential copyright violations.
