Dr Matthew Lamont BSportTourMangt(SCU), BBusTourMangt(Hons)(SCU), PhD (SCU) Dr Matt Lamont is Lecturer in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He holds a Bachelor of Sport Tourism Management, a Bachelor of Business in Tourism Management Honours degree, and was recently awarded his PhD. Matt was also awarded the University Medal in 2006 for academic achievement. Aside from his PhD research, Matt has also worked as a research consultant and project manager with the Australian Regional Tourism Research Centre. Matt’s primary research interest is in the field of sports tourism. His PhD research examined independent cycling holidays in Australia and he has undertaken numerous other research projects looking at cycling and cycle tourism. Matt’s other research interests include the motivations and behaviours of sport-focused leisure participants, non-elite participation in sporting events, rural adventure tourism, event sponsorship, and strategic management in leisure and tourism enterprises.
