Effective Legal Representation in 'Shari'ah' Courts as a Means of Addressing Human Rights Concerns in the Islamic Criminal Justice System of Muslim States

Abstract

This article argues that ensuring effective legal representation for accused persons under the Islamic criminal justice system can serve as an important procedural means for addressing human rights concerns in those States that currently apply Islamic criminal law as State law.
