Abstract
Regardless of which side of the assisted suicide debate one currently sits, the obligation to put the palliative care agenda ahead of the assisted suicide agenda is arguably legally required under Article 12.1 of the International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: the right to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
