Dr Power's work focuses on the human interaction and cultural aspects of communication, especially where these intersect with the fields of law and social psychology such as in negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution. Her current work is in the area of the social uses of communication technologies, conflict situations in the workplace, conflict styles inrelationships and crisis communication. Dr Power has published both nationally and internationally in the Australasian Dispute Resolution Journal, Australian Journal of Communication, the Journal of Applied Social Behaviour, Media International Australia Incorporating Culture & Policy, Asian Studies Review, Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education and the International Journal of Public Sector Management. She has published articles on Deaf People’s use of Communication Technologies, Identity Issues for Migrants, the Social Uses of Mobile Phones, Conflict Styles among Australian Christians and Muslims, Mediation Strategies for solving Community Disputes, Using Conflict Resolution skills in the Prevention of Crises, Framing of Issues in Union Negotiation, Women's Speech Style in Parliament, Cross Cultural Differences in Political Apologies, Styles and Strategies of British Union and Management Negotiators, Trade Negotiations with China under GATT, Internal Communication in Corporations, Men and Women Negotiators and the Education of Mediators. Dr Power is a registered Psychologist in the state of Queensland, a member of the Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA), the National Communication Association, and an editorial board member of Prism. Dr Power has been a peer reviewer for the Australian Journal of Psychology, The Australian Journalism Review, the Australian and New Zealand Communication Association, Southern Review, the Asia Pacific Public Relations Journal and the Journal of Applied Social Behaviour.
