About Marlene Beck

Dr. Marlene Beck is an adjunct professor of nursing at Sacred Heart University. Previously Dr. Beck was Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the MSN program and Associate Dean for Online Programs at Sacred Heart University. She earned her BSN from Western Connecticut State University, her MSN from Sacred Heart University and her DNP from Case Western Reserve University. Her expansive teaching career includes over 25 years in academia. Her professional and research interests include nursing education, best practices for online education, leadership and management, incivility in nursing education, professionalism, mentoring, retention, remediation and curriculum development and evaluation. At SHU she primarily teaches classes in the specialization tracks of nursing education and nursing leadership. Dr. Beck has completed and received certification from the Online Learning Consortium (Sloan - C) in advanced online education and has her certification is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). She has given presentations on her topics of interest for several groups, including the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and the Drexel University Nurse Educator Conference.
