I am a PhD Candidate at the School of International Studies, University of Trento
(Italy). My main research interests cover international human rights law, migration and
refugee law. I am writing a thesis that lies at the intersection of migration control
strategies and refugee protection under international and European human right law, with
the aim to investigate whether access to international protection may be hampered by the
implementation of bilateral agreements linked to readmission. I have been a Visiting
Fellow at the Centre of Migration Law at Radboud University, Nijmegen, (The Netherlands)
and I am a Doctoral Affiliate to the Refugee Law Initiative, School of Advanced Study,
University of London (UK). I have an LLM (Master of Law) in Human Rights Law from the
Queen Mary, University of London, and an MA in International Sciences from the University
of Messina (Italy). I have served as an intern at the Italian Consulate in London, and
have both worked and volunteered for human rights NGOs. Currently, I am a Visiting Fellow
at the Faculty of Law, Lund University, where I am teaching and conducting research in
the field of migration and refugee law.
