A native of Perú, María del Rosario de la Fuente y Hontañón's own research
interests are in the area of civil law and Roman law. She obtained a law degree from the
Universidad de Valladolid, in Spain, and another at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San
Marcos, in Perú. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in education and obtained a doctor
of laws degree from the Universidad de Cantabria, in Spain. Since 1995 she is the head of
the private law department at Universidad del Piura, in Perú, where she also lectures.
She has visited at the Universidad de Navarra, in Spain.
