Dr. Lynda Ransdell joined the Boise State University Department of Kinesiology
faculty in 2004. She received her Ph.D. in “Exercise and Wellness Education” from Arizona
State University and had previously served on faculties at the University of Utah,
University of Kentucky, and Colorado State University. 

Dr. Ransdell continues to study women’s health as it relates to physical activity, and
the design, implementation, and evaluation of physical activity interventions. She has
published over 70 peer reviewed articles, and co-authored numerous books and book
chapters related to health and physical activity. Her research has been funded with grant
money from a variety of government and private sources, and she is a “Fellow” in the
American College of Sports Medicine and the Research Consortium of the American Alliance
for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sport. Dr. Ransdell is currently serving
as the editor for the “Women in Sport and Physical Activity Journal” (which she also did
from 1999-2001) and has reviewed papers for Annals of Behavioral Medicine, Journal of the
American Medical Women’s Association, American Journal of Health Behavior, Research
Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, American Journal of Health Education, Journal of Sport
and Exercise Psychology, QUEST, and the Journal of Physical Activity and Health.
