About Loren M. Reno, M.S.

Loren Reno became the Vice President for Academics (Interim) at Cedarville University in July 2015. At the January 28, 2016 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Lt. General Loren Reno (Ret.) as Vice President for Academics, effective immediately.  He stepped down from that position on June 30, 2017. He was responsible for all of the University’s academic departments and activities and served as its chief academic officer.

Reno holds an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a B.A. in Comprehensive Science and Education from Cedarville University. He has completed studies in leadership and national security at Harvard University, Syracuse University, and the University of North Carolina. He served in the United States Air Force for more than 38 years and retired in the grade of lieutenant general in 2012.

His experience includes three years of teaching science and coaching at the secondary level, and two years as chief operating officer of an accredited technical training school in the Air Force. His leadership experience includes commanding two squadrons, one group, a fuel supply center, and an air logistics center while on active duty with the Air Force. His terminal assignment found him with policy oversight and resource advocacy for over 200,000 logistics, installations, and mission support airmen.

He joined Cedarville University in August 2012 as the inaugural Dean of the School of Business Administration and Professor of Management. He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level.

“Upon leaving the Air Force, I wanted to pour myself and experience into the lives of young men and women who share a passion for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ,” says Reno. “That is Cedarville: a strong commitment to the preeminence of Christ, the authority and profitability of Scripture, and an exceptional educational experience,” he says.
