About Lisa Smith

Lisa Smith earned her PhD in early American literature at the University of Delaware. As Assistant Professor of Teaching of English at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, she teaches early American literature and writing. Her courses focus on gender and spirituality in early American writings, spiritual autobiography, and women's rhetoric. Dr. Smith has published an academic monograph on how the First Great Awakening appeared in colonial American newspapers and a trade book on spiritual passion, and she has presented at Comic-Con International.
