About Lionel Matthews

Joining the Department in 1996, Dr. Matthews' areas of expertise are family relations and gender roles. Dr. Matthews has presented at the Global Awareness Society International, the Association of Caribbean Studies, the American Sociological Association, and the National Council and Family Life Association meetings. He is published in several journals including the National Journal of Sociology, Journal of Caribbean Studies, and the Journal of Research on Christian Education. He has been involved with elementary and secondary institutions as both an educator and administrator, and served as Education Officer for the Government of Guyana.
