Two take Trinidad to heart
Abstract
Like the sugar cane in its fields, Trinidad is informed by the raw, grainy taste of its origins. Raising her readers' understanding of this island where cultures meet and clash, Elizabeth Nunez also brings to both "Grace" and "Bruised Hibiscus" a natural, lyrical intensity. Where her characters meet -- in the many faces of desire and in the scarred residue of leave-taking -- she elevates their most intimate moments through language.
