Leonard Doerfler, Ph.D. is Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the
University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is also Professor of Psychology, Director
of the Master of Arts Program in Counseling Psychology, and Director of the Aaron T. Beck
Institute for Cognitive Studies at Assumption College. His research has focused on
evaluating outcomes in clinical practice, and he has worked with several mental health
service agencies to evaluate the effectiveness of their clinical programs. Dr. Doerfler
is interested in disseminating evidence-based intervention, particularly
cognitive-behavioral therapies, to mental health practitioners and community agencies. He
is Diplomate and Fellow in the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and Certified Supervisor in
Cognitive Therapy.
