Leland Guyer specializes in 20th century Portuguese and Brazilian literature. His
current research and writing interests include the theory and practice of literary
translation, the Spanish dictionary, the roles of technology in language learning,
hypertext and hypermedia, and the travel literature of Iberia and Ibero-America. His
current translation project is a 40 year retrospective of works by the Brazilian Ferreira
Gullar. He travels and works on his stick and rudder skills whenever possible. 

Guyer has been teaching at Macalester since 1983.
