Dr. Lawrence Quill joined the faculty at San José State in 2005. He has a special
interest in political theory and was a contributor to both The Routledge Encyclopedia of
Democratic Thought (London, Routledge, 2001) and The Routledge Encyclopedia of British
Culture (London, Routledge, 2003). He is the author of Liberty after Liberalism (London,
Macmillan, 2006) and Civil Disobedience: (Un)Common Sense in Mass Democracies (London,
Macmillan, 2009). His next book, Secrets and Democracy, will be published in 2013. Future
projects will focus on scandal in public life, the social and political dynamics of
greed, and the relation between technology and democracy.
