Abstract

The article looks at the debate over whether youths should specialize in particular sports or receive an overall high-quality physical education. Physical education teachers feel that they have the duty to address issues of childhood obesity and promote the development of physical activity habits. Various reasons for children to participate in youth sports are discussed.
